A good working relationship is all about communication. Here are some answers to some of the most common questions that come up.

General questions.

  • As a freelancer, the commitments on my plate constantly ebb and flow. Reach out using the contact form on the footer of this page to check in about my current schedule.

  • Complete the intake form with more details for my review and I’ll get in touch with next steps!

  • At this time, I am only consulting with companies based in the United States.

  • My goal is to respect your time (and mine). Send me a message using the contact form in the footer or complete an intake form so I can first review your ask and determine if it makes sense to connect live as a next step.

  • No. I am fully responsible for my own work product!

  • If I’m not the right person for the job, I’ll let you know and point you in the direction of someone I trust whenever possible.

  • Please keep outreach using the intake form or the one in the footer to my services, not yours. Thank you in advance for helping reduce my inbox clutter!

Freelance and consulting.

  • At this point in my career, I am a true integrated strategist that sits between brand and engagement. What that means is, I can both establish and position a brand and map out its tactics.

  • The services described on the about page are my bread and butter. Reach out using the contact form below if you’re unsure whether your needs are a match!

  • No, on purpose! I respect the NDAs I have signed over the years and unfortunately do not have permission to detail specific work in most cases. (Many individual portfolio sites play fast and loose with this, at their own risk.) However, send me a message using the form below if you want to hear more about my approach or ask a particular question and I’ll figure out a way to answer it!

  • While an overview of industries I have worked on is available on the about page, reach out using the contact form below if you’d like more specific information.

  • They vary greatly depending on the nature of the work. Fill out an intake form detailing your needs and I’ll give you an honest take on whether or not it’s possible. I usually reply within one business day.

  • I am always curious to hear about the right VP-level or above roles, but kindly request that you first review my LinkedIn to ensure what you send is relevant to my experience and not just filling a recruiting quota for outreach.

  • Depending on the nature of the engagement, yes. Fill out an intake form with more details and I will confirm what’s feasible with you.

  • Yes, for projects that will require at least 10 hours of total work.

  • Yes, for at least 20 hours of time per month for a minimum of 3 months.

Teaching and training.

  • You can review the services on offer to universities and edtech companies on the Teaching page.

  • Yes. Please use the contact form below to provide more details about your role for my review and I will follow up with next steps.

  • I have deep experience within both physical and virtual learning environments. Complete an intake form with more details about your needs and we can work out specifics.

  • Marketing and digital marketing are my primary focus areas, however I will also teach the right business, public relations, and public speaking courses.

  • Typically, trainings focus on marketing strategy or digital marketing. I also provide certain professional development workshops. Fill out an intake brief if you have a specific need in mind and we can discuss!

  • No. My general advice is to think about what a course’s outcomes promise and how relevant that is to your goals. Research who your instructors or professors will be and what real-world experience they can complement curriculum with. Come up with a list of questions you can have answered by an admissions counselor. Also consider your learning style and how a course’s design suits the way your unique brain absorbs information. Being a student requires a commitment from you and it’s better to take on learning when you have the time and mental space to do so over trying to quickly add a credential to your resume.

  • I appreciate your confidence in me! Unfortunately, I cannot commit enough time or resources to be as effective to you as I would require myself to be.

More about me and my POV.

  • By accident! I wanted to study psychology as an undergrad but went running after encountering a statistics class with a terrible professor. Public relations was one of the majors without a math requirement, and here we are. However, marketing still uses plenty of psychological principles and scratches that itch.

  • A thorough understanding of consumer psychographics and a willingness to experiment with and adapt tactics and creative. Stand for something and mean it. Authenticity and transparency are paramount and how you show up to consumers should acknowledge them as people, not potential profit opportunities.

  • Someone who understands and upholds the delicate balance between the art and science of marketing. Our counsel can’t exclusively point to research but it also can’t only rely on instinct. The discipline’s hard skills matter, but so do the soft skills that allow us to effectively communicate concepts and ideas.

  • Flexibility, kindness, respect, and a functioning moral compass. I look for all of these in potential clients and partners and strive to uphold the same at all times.

  • Yes. I subscribe to the belief that not all business is good business, and won’t take something on that I don’t possess the skillset for just to turn a profit. There are also some brands and industries I simply won’t touch. Unethical companies need not apply, either. I expect the people I do business with to be fierce champions of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The work is important and I hold myself to an exceptionally high standard, but at the end of the day we are all human beings before we are clients or consultants. There is no such thing as a marketing emergency and it’s PR, not ER.

  • Proactive, honest, and detailed. I am not a “yes” person who will agree with something just so I can charge for it. I will tell you when I don’t know something instead of bullshitting you (and will then investigate the answer so we both have it). Unless you tell me that you consider no news to be good news, I will check in often to give you as much visibility into projects and workflows as you desire. I also love a good GIF.

  • If you’ve seen the contact form in the footer, you’ve probably worked out my love of sci-fi and space. I’ve been a gamer almost my entire life and frequently unwind with my Xbox or Switch at the end of the day. I love reading memoirs, and non-fiction about the universe. I would have been an interior designer if I weren’t in marketing and am especially fond of midcentury modern style. Unfortunately, I also love most reality shows on Bravo and RHONY is my comfort programming outside of Star Trek. I became a certified Spinning instructor at the beginning of 2024.

  • To make your life easier as you try to decide if I’m someone you want to work with. Any potential SEO benefits also don’t hurt!

If you want to talk shop, I’m open to hearing about new opportunities, speaking and teaching gigs, and interesting ways to collaborate. Fellow nerds are strongly encouraged to reference Star Trek, video games, or the cosmos and its origin.
